A stage to discuss new developments in the science, technology, industry, and policy of geothermal energy

The largest geothermal congress in Europe

The European Geothermal Congress is the event which brings together the entire European geothermal sector and attracts many from outside the continent. What makes the conference unique is both its diversity and its size, as it provides a varied public with a range of different events, and is the largest geothermal congress in Europe.

Not just one event

Hosting a combination of events for different stakeholders - including a policy and scientific sessions, an exhibition, training courses, science bars, site visits, and networking events - creates a unique opportunity for those working in different aspects of geothermal, whether academic, industrial or societal, to come together.

By the sector,
for the sector

The congress is organised by EGEC, the European Geothermal Energy Council, which is the trade association for geothermal in Europe. The goal of the organisation is primarily to promote its members’ interests and promote the geothermal sector in Europe and beyond.

Hosting country: Germany

Today, Germany is among the leading European markets for geothermal energy, as more and more regions are looking to tap into this renewable energy resource. Germany is Europe’s 4th largest market for geothermal use in district heating and cooling, and the largest one in terms of planned capacity developments.
